or so they say

Rachel saw this one in Newport RI. Clearly, some dogs are ok, just not yours.

No dog's what? No dog's breakfast?

I see there's a special bonus unnecessary apostrophe today. Excellent.

Obviously the tree is "not owned by any dog." Meaning there is a dog that owns it.

Words cannot explain how much I hate improperly pluralized words.

Kellie: yes. WTF are the words possessing, might I ask?

the S looks like it is upside down. and is this really the best way to display the sign?

And I thought I would be the first to comment on the vile, random apostrophe. I should have known!

Oh, man! I want that sign!

Break it down

The sign on the tree says it is no dog's. No dog owns this tree

The quotes mean either that either a specific dog DOES own it or they are quoting the guy who maintains the park

Or it may be short for 'no dog is'. Someone is being poetic and saying that no dog is a tree. In other words a dog needs more than water and sunshine, unlike a tree

I think that I shall never see
A poem as lovely as a tree
And never shall I gaze a log
Who fetches as well as a dog

i'm peeing with laughter! this may be my fave one yet.

I prefer to interpret the sign to mean "there is no dog that owns this tree," i.e. if anyone or anything owns the tree, he/she/it is not a dog at all (or the tree is not owned by anyone, even a dog).

And, yes, the S is upside down.

Great blog!

Perhaps "No Dog's" =
Dogs own you. Yes, it's true.
Not you, or any tree, owns dogs.
Who picks up the poop?
Don't even look at this tree.
You just stepped in poop.

It's a stretch.

Is this the same as "No Man's Land". Does a particular dog actually own the tree or do "all" dogs own the tree or do "no" dogs own the tree. I'm so confused...
