you're so "loving"

The submitter writes, "This was a gift to my mom from my brother's wife. It would have been really sweet if it weren't so darn sarcastic."

Why would a mother call her son "your son?" That doesn't even make any sense -- a man can't be his own son!

Good LAWD but this is funny! I cannot really believe the authors didn't know exactly what they were up to....

My late grandmother would always underline and put quotes around various words in the long, sappy greeting cards that she sent her children and grandchildren, presumably for emphasis. We always gently made fun of her for it, but it was definitely one of her more lovable quirks. As silly and sappy as it is, this plaque totally reminded me of her, in a good way.

Hmm...maybe I should send one of these to my ex-mother in law. It actually fits perfectly.

This absolutely needs to go in the "best of the blog" list. I am laughing so hard! Classic, and so true of some in-law dynamics. What a find...what a gem. Love it!

The company is called Genie's Poetry, and there are DOZENS of similar products. All are equally awful.

Priceless!!

Not quite the Bradys said...

I think someone needs to shoot this one over to PAN. I'm pretty sure it counts. You've got the PA-ness directed at both the Mother in law AND the "husband". Love it. : )

This is definitely a best of!

It gets worse before it gets better.

This is borderline between oversentimentality and sarcasm. I could imagine my wife sending this to my mother.

Is it me, or is there some serious incest inferred from this ode?

I've been going back through your posts and they are so awesome. I've been cackling for an hour now. MUST GET BACK TO "work".

I love the reference to the son's questionable parentage at the end. Classic.

Wow ... so awesome. Now I don't feel so bad that my MiL gave me a birthday card that said

to our "daughter" ...
with "love" ....
etc.

Also is it a little weird that the MOM sent this plaque to the DiL?

"your son" actually works, as its quoting the father.

the others, well they are just wrong.

but really "grateful" should be in quotes too
