Congressman Ellison, if that IS YOUR REAL NAME

This picture comes from reader Paul who also writes:

I'm from Minnesota, the state that Keith Ellison represents in Congress. Until now, I always thought that his name actually was Keith Ellison, but apparently "Keith Ellison" is just a cover for his real name. Lou Alsindor? Osama bin Laden? Bill Jones?

They say that they're celebrating similarities, and welcoming differences. Apparently this includes differences in grammar.

I love your blog. One point, however. I believe Lou Alcindor spelled it with a "c", not an "s". Uh, oh....are these quotation marks also unnecessary?

"Lou" is also actually Lew

Anonymous: You're thinking of Lew Alcindor, the basketball player. Paul was clearly referring to Lou Alsindor, the grocer, who spells his name with an "s".

This has to be a Minnesota thing. All my aunts, uncles and cousins from MN put quotation marks around names, without fail.
